Trip Overview

Makalu Himal is 8,481 m, the fifth highest mountain in the world, and first summited on May 15, 1955, by Lionel Terray and Jean Couzy of a French expedition team. But Makalu Base camp trek is a less-frequented route due to its relative inaccessibility, however, it’s not too hard to do.

Makalu region Sherpa and Rai People specially from Chechela village, Num villages has been involved in the Cardamom Crops, which gives the best income to Locals from Cardamom Crops, and self-use for surviving is major crops are grown, Wheat, Barley, Millet, Maize, Potato, Sunflower, Sweet Potato, Pumpkin, and Bean are the produce.

The best time to do the Makalu base camp trek is from Sep-Nov and Mar-may, Note that sometimes early march is not open this trek because of the deep snow on the Makalu base camp 5250 m elevations, and Jak Kharka (4615m heights.)

The Makalu base camp route demands a moderate difficulty level, which is doable for beginner trekkers too, but of course, you need 5 to 6 hours of hiking stamina per day.
